Show Notes

This was Phish’s 1st and only show at Theater St-Denis – a historic movie theater built in 1915 with a capacity in the main theater (Theater St-Denis1) of 2,200. The Funky Bitch soundcheck was performed in a slow blues style (mashed up with Back At The Chicken Shack) and sung by Trey. Llama included teases of Free Ride and The Munsters’ Theme. The intro to Julius contained a tease of Paint It Black. Carolina and Memories were performed A cappella without microphones. Trey dedicated David Bowie to their “brother in spirit”. David Bowie also contained a tease of The Munsters’ Theme. Tweezer included teases of (at least) Hold Your Head Up, 2001 and Who Knows. Old Home Place and Nellie Cane were performed acoustic without amplification with Trey on acoustic guitar, Mike on upright bass, Page on Melodica and Fish on Madonna washboard. Nellie Kane was played for Mary Bog by request. After this show, the band and crew traveled 345 miles overnight to Boston/Mansfield for a day off. Reba from this show was released as a “LivePhish02” (7/16/94 Sugarbush) iTunes bonus in February 2009.
