Show Notes
This was Phish’s only show on the campus of ASU, in a basketball gymnasium with a capacity of 3,500 for this show. Tickets cost $12 for students and $18 for the public and the show was sold out. The soundcheck included the 1st known The Rover (Led Zeppelin cover) played by Phish. Funky Bitch from the soundcheck was sung by Page and Trey and included bits of the Punch You In The Eye intro. Trey teased Dixie during the intro to Run Like An Antelope. Guyute included the alternative lyric “dancing like a newborn elf.” Dog Faced Boy had a brief guitar outro that led to Scent Of A Mule. You Enjoy Myself included Simple teases and a vocal jam that melted into a Fish-sung Catapult as well as a full band “Greenpeace Mike” chant. David Bowie’s intro included the Fish vocalization “the cows come out to play” with some moo’ing and vocalizations throughout the rest of Bowie. Before the encore, Trey thanked the crowd and compared the town of Boone to the band’s hometown of Burlington. Nellie Kane and Beaumont Rag were performed acoustic with Trey on acoustic guitar, Mike on banjo, Page on upright bass and Fish on mandolin. Beaumont Rag included Page’s 1st ever bass solo. Foreplay/Long Time was performed acoustic with the same setup except with Fish on Madonna washboard. Trey introduced Foreplay/Longtime as “a little northern bluegrass…asphaltgrass”). After this show the band and crew traveled 279 miles overnight to Charlottesville, VA. This show and 8/2/93 Tampa, FL were released in November 2024 as ‘Hurricane Recovery’ – a two-show benefit to support hurricane and flood recovery efforts in western North Carolina, the west coast of Florida, and Vermont.
