Show Notes
This was Phish’s only performance at the San Diego Sports Arena – a multi-purpose venue opened in 1966 with a concert capacity of 13,700. Tickets were general admission and cost $22.50. Continuing the tour’s James Brown theme, Punch You In The Eye contained a Get Up Offa That Thing quote. Reba ended without whistling. During Lawn Boy, Trey thanked the catering crew and brought two of the caterers (Lisa and Katie) on stage to dance with him. By the time of this show, Las Vegas was completely sold out and demand for Vegas tix was bubbling over. It was at this show that the band met the “Yodeling Cowgirls” Heather August and Anamieke Carrozza, who would join them in Vegas. After this show the band and crew traveled 325 miles overnight to Las Vegas for a day off. Brad Sands’ note in the itinerary stated “Day Off – If you need to look in the itinerary for something to do in Las Vegas, you deserve to suffer and look through the yellow pages.”
