Show Notes
This was Phish’s sixth performance at the Georgia Theatre, an 18-and-over show gig billed as Phish with Special Guests: The Giant Country Horns. The Giant Country Horns were Dave “The Truth” Grippo, Russell “Killer” Remington and Carl “Gears” Gerhard. Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit opened. In between The Landlady and Golgi Apparatus, the horns were introduced. Stash was played as a dedication. Happy Birthday was sung and played, including a blues jam by the horns, for Lighting Designer Chris Kuroda on his 26th birthday. The band called Chris to the stage to blow out the candles on his cake. The solo in Lawn Boy was played on trumpet by Gears. In a twist, the horn players introduced Phish between Frankenstein and Split Open And Melt. Melt was played as a second encore – it was performed after the band left the stage and returned following Frankenstein and extensive Exit Announcements by somebody from the venue or promoter. Split Open And Melt included a tease of The Munsters Theme. This setlist was adopted from circulating fan sources.
