Exit Announcements
Show Notes
This was the first show of a 2-night stand at the Arrowhead of all ages shows billed as Phish with Special Guests: The Giant Country Horns. Tickets were $17.50. The Giant Country Horns were Dave “The Truth” Grippo, Russell “Killer” Remington and Carl “Gears” Gerhard. The Authority and the Spin Doctors opened. The Horn Tour Phish Update said it best: “the shows at Arrowhead Ranch are not to be missed! The Ranch has plenty of camping on the premises and is set in the beautiful Catskills. Gates open at noon each day, and shows start around 2pm.” The Introduction before Chalk Dust Torture and the Exit Announcements after Possum were delivered by David Graham (Bill Graham’s son), who ran the venue. The Landlady featured Rene Lopez from the Authority sitting in on percussion. The horns were introduced before Bathtub Gin. Trey dedicated Buried Alive to the people in the shower, calling it “music to shower by”. Caravan included teases of Manteca. In a great moment of Phish humor, mini-trampolines were brought out for the Giant Country Horns during You Enjoy Myself. In the excitement, Trey spat out “have you seen Junior’s grades, shit”. Trey sent the audience off with good thoughts before Possum, saying “Have a good night camping tonight. Don’t do anything i wouldn’t do.”
