Show Notes
This was Phish’s 1st show in Kentucky, where they performed at a historic live theater/movie house built in 1925 with a capacity of 1,430. The soundcheck included the 1st known performances of Deep Purple covers Space Truckin’ and Smoke On The Water as well as Long Time (Boston cover). While waiting to open with Chalk Dust Torture, Trey announced “Fish is late again.” Harry Hood contained The Simpsons secret language and Mike’s Song featured an early tease of the as-yet-untitled Simple. The Horse was played by Trey on acoustic guitar. Conscious of the 6-hour drive to Ann Arbor, Trey dedicated Highway to Hell to the band’s truck driver, Terry. Gumbo was dusted off for the first time since The Horn Tour (7/23/91) and Amazing Grace was performed without microphones. After this show, the band and crew traveled 350 miles overnight to Ann Arbor, MIchigan.
