Show Notes

This show took place in an extremely dusty fenced-in outdoor field with a capacity of 12,000. Whatever grass was once on the field had been decimated by fires set during the Lollapalooza tour that passed through the previous day. The Wilson opener contained a tease of the Jeopardy! Theme and The Simpsons secret language before the “Blat Boom”. Trey sang the verses of Fee through his megaphone. Trey introduced Fish before his Madonna washboard solo as “the master of the universe, Henrietta reborn.” The David Bowie intro included Oom Pah Pah secret language and a substantial tease/small bit of Donna Lee. The David Bowie jam also included a tease of The Sounds Of Silence (Paul Simon cover). At the end of Tweezer, Trey quickly switched to acoustic guitar to play The Horse. The Harpua narration started with Trey saying “as we go on our way down South here, I’m just going to leave you guys with a little story about the way things go up in Vermont, where we’re from, which is really kind of the Gamehendge, Vermont, Green Mountain area…the whole thing all sort of blends together up in those mountains.” The narration found Harpua riding the clouds down from his home in the VT cliffs into town where Jimmy was watching his favorite episode (the Famous Amos cookie episode) of his favorite show, Taxi. At that point, the narration included a quick tease by Page of Angela aka the “Taxi” theme (Bob James cover). During Purple Rain, Fish introduced the band. After this show, the band and crew traveled 353 miles overnight to Richmond, Virginia for a day off before the H.O.R.D.E.
