Show Notes
This was Phish’s 1st show at Bangor Auditorium, a multi-purpose auditorium with a concert capacity of about 3,200. The soundcheck featured the 1st known performance – albeit partial – of The Punk And The Godfather (The Who cover) which was jammed instrumentally and then as a mashup with lyrics to Contact and The Acid Queen (Theo Who cover). Caravan included a tease of Manteca. The Run Like An Antelope Intro included teases of The Punk And The Godfather. Trey sang the verses of Fee through his megaphone. You Enjoy Myself contained teases of Mission: Impossible and Yield Not To Temptation and the Bonanza Theme during the vocal jam. Harpua included Trey’s narration about the legend of pro wrestler “Ravishing” Rick Rude and Jimmy, who was listening to Eric Clapton Crossroads on the radio. The band played the Crossroads intro (Robert Johnson cover popularized by Eric Clapton), foreshadowing the following night’s show in Durham. Amazing Grace was performed with microphones.
