Set List
Show Notes
This was the second show of a 2-night stand at The Palace. This date was listed in the Mar 93 Phish Update as “tentative – will be added if 17th sells out”, which it did. Trey sang the verses of Fee through his megaphone. Trey declared this the first “holographic Phish concert” during the Colonel Forbin’s narration. During I Didn’t Know, Trey introduced Fish’s trombone solo saying, “playing his holographic soul out for you now ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome Showboat Gertrude, Moses Brown, Moses Heaps, Moses DeWitt, Henrietta…Tubbs!” The set-closing David Bowie included Fall Down and The Simpsons secret language and an introduction of actor George DiCenzo in the intro, and contained a bit of Dave’s Energy Guide. Set II began with a fun tuneup that teases of Stayin’ Alive (Bee Gees cover) and Jimmy Olsen’s Blues. My Friend My Friend began with Trey on acoustic guitar and developed, starting with Mike, into a demented mashup of My Friend vocals sung to the tune of The Little Drummer Boy. This was the 1st Little Drummer Boy in more than six years (since 12/6/86). Poor Heart featured extra testimony and vocalizations and a callback of My Friend lyrics. Split Open And Melt also had some extra testimony (“holographic Melt”) and scatting, and teases of Stayin’ Alive and Little Drummer Boy during and after the song. During Hold Your Head Up after Brain, Trey introduced Fish as “Henrietta, Tubbs, The Little Beast Boy, Little Jon, The Friar, Moses Brown, Moses Heaps, Moses DeWitt…He lives for the spotlight – the roar of the crowd.” You Enjoy Myself included more teasing of Stayin’ Alive. At the end of Cavern, Trey thanked Katy DeWitt and Sarah Thorsen.
