Show Notes
This was the first show of a 2-night stand at The Palace. These were Phish’s only shows to-date in Hollywood and their 1st 2-night stand on the West Coast. The venue was a historic, Spanish Colonial Revival theater, originally opened in 1927 with a capacity of about 1,100. The Shaggy Dog soundcheck began with a snippet of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down (The Band). Despite the building’s good acoustics, there were sound problems from The Landlady opener through Stash. After Stash, Trey mentioned they were having technical difficulties they would try to fix during Amazing Grace, which was performed without microphones and dedicated by Mike to the members of Ninja Custodian. Run Like An Antelope included teases of The Munsters Theme by Trey and It’s Ice by Mike. Glide was introduced as “a Happy St. Patrick’s Day song” and its more-than-a-minute-long pause included snoring. Reba had some extra scatting and vocalizations and ended without whistling. Weekapaug featured Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid (Led Zeppelin covers) teases as well as a Lively Up Yourself jam. Trey played The Horse on acoustic guitar. Fish dedicated The Great Gig In The Sky (which he referred to as “The OK Gig In The Sky”) to the members of Ninja Custodian, and requested extra fog from Chris for the performance. Sweet Adeline was performed without microphones.
