Show Notes
This was the first show of a 2-night, sold out stand at the Palace Theatre. The soundcheck included the 1st known performance of Give A Little Bit (Supertramp cover) and multiple versions of Poor Heart as blues, A cappella and to the tune of Funky Bitch respectively. It’s Ice featured Trey and Mike “skating” on their Slide Board Balance Trainers, plus a tease of Pop! Goes the Weasel (traditional) by Page. My Friend My Friend began with a segue out of Runaway Jim and a quick switch by Trey to acoustic guitar for the beginning of the song. Ya Mar included multiple teases of Two Princes and was dedicated by Trey to his girlfriend (now-wife) Sue for her birthday. The Jam after You Enjoy Myself featured teases of Yield Not to Temptation and included special guests, The Aquarium Rescue Unit (at least Apt. Q-258 aka Jeff Sipe on drums, Oteil Burbridge on bass and vocals, and Jimmy Herring on guitar) and The Dude of Life as well as a vacuum solo and some Madonna washboard by Fish. Among The Dude of Life’s contributions to this intense jam was a “sunburn from the microwave” and “spikes on the tire” rap. Amazing Grace was performed without microphones. This rendition of You Enjoy Myself (and the Jam) with ARU and The Dude of Life was included as part of the filler on the remastered LivePhish archival CD release of “5/8/93 UNH Fieldhouse, Durham, NH”.
