This was an all ages show presented by Dionysian Productions and the first show of a 2-night stand at The Music Hall. Tickets were $13.50. A new flyer with Jim Pollock political rally art announced the shows. The show began with the debut of Rift’s new arrangement, the song having been shelved since spring 1990. This show also featured many other debuts, including the 1st public performances of: Maze, My Friend My Friend (introduced as “Knife”), Mound, NICU (introduced as “In An Intensive Care Unit” and played at its original, slow reggae tempo) and Sleeping Monkey. David Bowie included teases of the Jeopardy! and Star Trek themes as well as Get Back, Finger Scrape, Me And My Arrow (point at the Asshole In The Front Row), It Don’t Mean A Thing and The Simpsons secret language. This show also witnessed the revelation of the 1st Phish Secret Language Instructions, during which Trey introduced the 4 “major” signals (Homer Simpson’s “Doh”, Fall Down, Random Note, Turn Turn Turn (toward the back of the room), and Finger Scrape (aka “Aw, Fuck!”). Possum subsequently contained The Simpsons, Turn Turn Turn, Finger Scrape and Fall Down secret language. In the months surrounding, this show, the band was in the midst of mixing The Dude Of Life and Phish “Crimes Of The Mind” with Dan Archer. The Mar/Apr 92 Phish Update also announced a new hotline number, the band’s signing with Chip Hooper at Monterey Peninsula Artists to handle booking and the February 18th release of “A Picture of Nectar”. It also said to “expect to see “Lawn Boy” back in stores in late April on Elektra.” This was Brad Sands’ 1st paid show as a member of the crew – he filled the position advertised in the Nov/Dec 91 Phish Update.
