Show Notes

This was the second of three headline shows between the 1-set European and H.O.R.D.E. dates and Santana tour. It was also Phish’s sixth and last show at Trax and the place was packed. It was incredibly hot and humid during these three Virginia shows and what little air conditioning the venue had could not keep up. The soundcheck featured the 1st and only known performance of Happy Trails (Dale Evans Rogers cover). To fight the extreme heat, Fish played this entire show wearing only a jockstrap marked with a “0” to conjure his Zero Man costume. This rendition of The Horse contained the last use of the early “Mathilda in between” lyric. Run Like An Antelope contained The Simpsons language. Before The Sloth and no doubt a commentary on the heat, the band teased Rock Lobster (B52’s cover). Esther contained Random Note secret language and Possum included a tease of Lullaby of Birdland as well as Fish’s vacuum solo. While there is no evidence this was recognized at the time, this show is believed to have been Phish 666’th show.
