Show Notes

This was Phish’s third show at the Barrymore, an all ages show presented by TMJ Productions.  Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit opened and tckets were $13 advance or $15 at the door.  In contrast to the situation in Gunnison or the rough eats the night before, Page recalled excellent catering (especially the guacamole) at this gig.  After a big crowd response to Maze, Trey said “Thank you…a new song.”  Promoter Jason Colton delivered the Introduction before set II “Tomorrow night Phish is going to be in Milwaukee at a club called The Rave…tickets are $12.50 at the door…so definitely think about heading down to Milwaukee tomorrow night.”  Glide was preceded by Fall Down secret language and Trey sang along with Glide’s guitar melody.  Col. Bruce joined the band on trombone during Tweezer, prompting the lyric “look who’s in the freezer, Bruce Hampton!” along with some maniacal laughing.  You Enjoy Myself included Me and My Arrow (aka Asshole In The Front Row) secret language, a Dave’s Energy Guide tease and a vocal jam based on Welcome Christmas (from “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”).  The Horse contained the early “Mathilda in between” lyric.  Trey began Harry Hood with a long yell picked up from the crowd.  Carolina was performed without microphones.  It’s interesting to note that the band ended the month of April within a 9 hour drive of where they started it in Kansas, after having traveled all the way down and up the West Coast and back.
