Show Notes

This was the 1st show of a 2-night stand at the Palace Theater.  A special Phish News “New Year’s Gig Info” postcard announced the four holiday shows, the new (recently-titled) album, “Rift” due out in late January and a “Spring tour of US and Canada to run from late Jan. thru mid-May”.  It also contained a one-word Mike’s Corner that stated simply, “Frostbite.”  Jim Pollock designed a NYE ’92 “Rock Paper Scissors Shoot” t-shirt for the holiday tour.  All four shows were completely sold out.  The soundcheck featured the 1st known performance of Diamond Girl (Seals & Crofts cover) – played this night without The Dude of Life.  The band also soundchecked Punch You In The Eye, which had not been played live in more than three years.  During this unique Buried Alive, the band played the song as a bed while Trey discussed his family (he mentioned “about 16 of them”) and thanked them for coming to the show.  Sweet Adeline and Memories were performed without microphones.
