Show Notes

This was an all ages show and Phish’s 1st performance in Kalamazoo or anywhere on the western side of Michigan. The State Theatre is an ornate, historic vaudeville/movie house built in 1927 with exquisite acoustics and a capacity of about 1,650. The Wedge, played during soundcheck, incorporated elements of John Lennon’s I Want You (She’s So Heavy). Trey sang the verses of Fee through the megaphone and Fish played a Madonna washboard solo during I Didn’t Know. Trey explained that All Things Reconsidered was a “variation on NPR’s All Things Considered.” All Things subsequently included The Simpsons and Finger Scrape secret language. Sweet Adeline and Carolina were performed without microphones. You Enjoy Myself included a tease of The Odd Couple Theme and a series of duet jams between Trey and Fish and and then Mike and Page. Following Love You, Fish got so worked up that he did a stage dive into the audience.
