Show Notes

This was an all ages, 1-set show. It was Phish’s 1st date on this multiple act festival conjured by the bands as a gathering of the tribes – diehard music fans who could potentially fill amphitheaters nationwide. The tour was dubbed H.O.R.D.E. Tour for Horizons Of Rock Developing Everywhere (among other monikers). Phish played a northeast swing of four dates with Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit, the Spin Doctors, Widespread Panic and Blues Traveler. Flyers for the shows read “The Eastern Migration of the Great American H.O.R.D.E.” and defined the word “horde” as “a disorganized group of people traveling in the same direction.” This was Phish’s 1st show at the CCCC. Happy to back in the U.S., the band got no further than the Glide opener before employing The Simpsons secret lanaguage. The David Bowie intro contained Fall Down secret language. This show featured the 1st and only known performance of Glide Reprise, as Glide both opened and closed the main set. According to the June/July/August 92 Phish Update: “When we get back from Europe, we’ll be joining forces with The Aquarium Rescue Unit, Blues Traveler, Widespread Panic and The Spin Doctors for four shows from July 9-12. These shows should hold many surprises. Special thanks to Dave Frey for coordinating this complicated production.” At this show, ARU’s set segued into WSP’s.
